Rocky Roads helped this client out with some work on his rust-free original paint California Bronco back in the late '90's. Then there was a 10-15 year gap in our relationship (where he was not able to get much more done on the build). It still had the original paint on it, and the fenders had been cut out and flared. The front bumper was chrome, the rear a black powder coated Rock Solid with swing out tire carrier with a matching spare wheel and tire. You can't see that in any of the pics because we don't have any recent pictures of the Bronco, but that is what is going to be on it once we get it back. It also has a Wild Horses 3.5" dual shock suspension system with dual shocks in front and in back, plus a 1" body lift.

In 2012, we helped him install a new Ford Crate 408 Stroker engine with dual exhaust, a new radiator, a re-wire a 5 speed manual transmission, along with a re-sealed Dana 20 transfer case. It has power steering, power brakes and disc brakes.

Now, 20-some years later, he is considering giving it back to us to bring the restoration up to date. He may end up parting ways with it after all of these years... we will know soon what he wants to do with it. He is considering selling it back to us so we can carry on where he left off, but we have not been able to connect yet.

Once we have it back, we are going to lay out a plan for the restoration, and we'll update the 'status' of the build. It may come back to us on consignment where we will be helping him find a buyer, or we may buy it outright and make it our next long term build.

Here's what is going to take place once we do get it back:

Strip body for body and 2 stage paint work
Send all parts out for sand blasting and powder coating
Paint exterior, dash and fender flares (color not chosen yet)
Black out chassis and suspension so it all looks fresh and new again
Go through the front and rear axles, install 4.56 gearing and a Soft Locker in back
New Legend 6 point black roll cage with black vinyl wrapped padding and wrapping
New Legend high back bucket german vinyl seating in front
Restored stock rear seat in back
RR matching pleated vinyl door, rear side and tailgate paneling
Polyuria (Linex) interior bed liner in black
New LED head lights, billet light rings, new tail light lenses and bezels
Tuffy center console with Alpine CD stereo system in box
2 sets of JL Audio Component speakers (flush mounted into rear side panels)
Chrome lift-off door hinges, plus all new emblems and bezels
Alpine 5 channel amplifier distributing power to RR 12" sub woofer box under rear seat
RR Black snap-in carpet mats in front, rear and behind rear seat
New Legend front bumper with push bar (or keep the chrome bumper)
New Legend side steps (OR Amp Research retractable side steps)
New 33" tires on either black Fuel 17x9" wheels or new Aluminum 15x10" wheels
Lower truck to 2.5" lift with a 1" body lift for better handling

Once this is all done, this will be one amazing California Bronco! The question then becomes how much will it be worth, and will he be willing to part with it? Keep watching this one!
